3,500 SF – Interior Renovation of an Existing Loft in Manhattan, NY
This renovation transformed a 3,500 SF loft into an artist’s home and workshop, tailored for a client who creates intricate wearable art with fabrics, beads, and jewelry for high-profile clientele. The goal was to design the entire loft as a fully functional art studio, while also providing a comfortable, visually refined living environment.
The workroom is tucked into the far corner of the loft, separated from the main living spaces by a large sliding panel and directly accessible from the bedroom. This allows the loft to transition seamlessly between private, focused work and social, communal living, maintaining openness while providing distinct zones for creativity and relaxation.
While the loft offered ample natural light, we introduced indirect lighting to evenly illuminate the space, layered with decorative pendants and chandeliers that reflect the client’s vibrant artistry. The color palette of soft, tone-on-tone creamy hues on floors and walls creates a serene atmosphere, letting the art itself remain the focal point.
Custom horsehair rugs by an American artisan and fully bespoke furniture pieces reinforce the sense of craftsmanship and artistry throughout the loft. Every detail—from layout to finishes—was carefully curated to balance functionality with visual interest, ensuring that both work and daily life are supported in equal measure.
The result is a space that embodies duality: a home that is both a sanctuary and a studio, where comfort, functionality, and creativity coexist harmoniously.
